Hi everyone. To catch you up five months ago we celebrated the Fall Feasts. Before going in detail I just want to say that I am so thankful that God led me to find out about His appointed feasts. And I am glad to have pushed aside human traditions for God's Biblical Feasts.
Feast of Trumpets-October 3rd
Leviticus 23:23-25 "Yahweh said to Moses, Say to the Israelites: On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts. Do no regular work, but preset an offering made to Yahweh by fire."
Numbers 29:1-6 "On the first day of the seventh month hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. It is a day for you to sound the trumpets. As an aroma pleasing to Yahweh, prepare a burnt offering of one young bull, one ram and seven male lambs a year old, all without defect. With the bull prepare a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil; with the ram, two-tenths, and with each of the seven lambs, one-tenth. Include one male goat as a sin offering to make atonement for you. These are in addition to the monthly and daily burnt offerings with their grain offerings and drink offerings as specified. They are offerings made to Yahweh by fire- a pleasing aroma."
As we read in Leviticus and Numbers, God commanded that the first day of the seventh month to be a sacred assembly. Now we don't sacrifice animals anymore since Yeshua (Jesus) became our sacrifice when he died on the cross for us, but this day does still need to be observed.
The Feast of Trumpets is a day of rest and rejoicing. So it is a great day for you to read your Bible (which you should be reading everyday), and sing, and just relax, and get excited for the Feast of Tabernacles. You can also do little activities with your family like mine did. We did crossword puzzles and coloring sheets related to the Feast.
You can also blow trumpets or look up videos that have people blowing the Shofar. I don't know about you but I love hearing the trumpets and Shofar blow. Too bad I don't have one of my own :( maybe next year....
The Day of Atonement- October 12th
Leviticus 23:26-32 "Yahweh said to Moses, The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves, and present an offering made to Yahweh by fire. Do no work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before Yahweh your Elohim. Anyone who does not deny himself on that day must be cut off from his people. I will destroy from among his people anyone who does any work on that day. You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. It is a sabbath of rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath."
The Day of Atonement is a rest day, no work should be done as we just read in Leviticus. It is also a day to afflict your soul. I afflicted my soul by fasting and by staying away from electronics for the day. Now children, sick people, and pregnant women are not expected to fast. But as I have done research, people do fast on this day to afflict their souls. The Day of Atonement is a day to remember all the things God has done for us and to get ready for the Week Long Feast.
